Analysis of Turkish Terrorism Events Platform Data: Effects of PKK Terror (1984-2022)

Summary

This research article aimed to analyze the terrorist attacks and their impacts committed by the terrorist organization PKK and its affiliates. In an effort to better understand, two types of limitations time and geography, were employed in the research. The article covered the terrorist attacks between 1984 and 2022 that took place within the borders of Türkiye, Iraq and Syria. In the study, quantitative and qualitative methods were used in tandem to construct insightful interpretations of the terrorist attacks by suggesting a continuing use of statistical analysis. The Terrorism Analysis Platform (TAP) was chosen as the main source for quantitative data. In the introduction part of the study, information about TAP is given and the methodology of the study is explained. In the second part, the period between 1984-2022 was analyzed over the same parameters in four different periods, and a comparative periodic analysis was made. In the conclusion part, all the data for the period between 1984-2022 were analyzed with a holistic perspective.
